When it was first announced, it sounded like Apple was going after Adobe by introducing its own version of Creative Cloud with Creator Studio. Today, that becomes much clearer as Apple has introduced some major updates to its Creator Studio, highlighted by the announcement that Final Cut Pro for Mac will now include built-in MotionVFX along with Pixelmator Pro.

Is Final Cut Pro back, baby?

We’ll wait and see for now, but this is a major transformation for Apple Creator Studio and FCP, so here’s what you need to know.

A Major Update for Final Cut Pro

So, while there’s a lot to explore with Apple Creator Studio getting a transformative overhaul itself, it’s hard to not just really focus on MotionVFX coming to Final Cut Pro, as this should add an expansive collection of visual effects, plugins, transitions, templates, and motion graphics tools to the previously VFX-lackluster NLE.

“This is our most exciting update since the launch of Apple Creator Studio. MotionVFX content in Final Cut Pro gives subscribers rapid access to extensive professional video effects and content, bringing incredible value to the suite. Logic Pro’s new Browser allows users to explore and experiment with more sounds than ever as they create music. Pixelmator Pro’s sophisticated fill capabilities now let users completely reimagine any part of an image. And the assistant capabilities in Logic Pro, Keynote, Pages, and Numbers are going to change the game for how people interact with and learn to use these apps.” - Brent Chiu-Watson, Apple’s senior director of Worldwide Product Marketing for Apps and iCloud.

The other big news is that Pixelmator Pro will now be available in FCP, and it will also introduce its own Generate Fill feature, which lets editors transform selected areas of an image using natural language.

A Big Step Forward for Apple Creator Studio

Along with the FCP updates, Apple Creator Studio aims to be much more robust and expansive overall, as it will also add several new features for Logic Pro for Mac, including a new intelligent assistant in beta, an enhanced Stem Splitter that will be able to separate drums, and a completely redesigned Browser that will be able to incorporate all sounds, with music understanding and even a Splice library.

Keynote, Pages, and Numbers also get a host of new AI features, as your AI assistants become more empowered to support automated workflows and MCP support. There are also new stock video options in the Content Hub and more themes and templates.

Freeform is getting a boost with new text styles for one-step formatting and reuse across boards, custom and preset board background colors, and the ability to edit images directly in Pixelmator Pro and generate editable shapes from text descriptions, which will arrive in December.

Price and Availability

All these new updates in Apple Creator Studio are set to be available this month, and they will be free for existing subscribers. New subscribers can sign up for plans starting at $12.99 a month or $129 a year.
