SASHA SHOW had a great week on YouTube. The Turkey-based channel is the home of a kid-friendly creator who works pop culture characters into his videos. SASHA SHOW had a great week on YouTube. The Turkey-based channel is the home of a kid-friendly creator who works pop culture characters into his videos. That was a winning formula during the second full week of October, when SASHA SHOW added 1.92 million new subscribers.

The two channels right behind SASHA SHOW in the Global Sub Top 50 have a lot in common. They both feature sweets in their videos, they’re both preoccupied with large numbers, and, of course, they’re both doing extremely well on YouTube right now.

Why have one Oreo when you can have 10,000 Oreos?

After perusing this week’s Global Sub Top 50, I’m reminded of a classic Mitch Hedberg joke: “Rice is great if you’re really hungry and want to eat two thousand of something.”

Hedberg would thrive in today’s social media landscape, and not just because he knew how to deliver a short-form punchline. His rice joke is the perfect description of an odd YouTube trend. All over the platform, creators are assembling dishes that contain thousands of food items — and I’m not talking about rice.

Tade Vlogs is at the forefront of that trend. The #3 channel in this week’s Global Sub Top 50 created a novel foodstuff when he debuted the thousand-layer Oreo in a video that has already received more than 64 million views.

Tade has since upped the ante by fitting 10,000 Oreos into a single video. His fans clearly can’t get enough, because he added one million new subscribers during the second full week of October. In terms of views, he recently achieved a high-water mark over the past six months.

The popularity of Tade’s Oreo-tastic dishes unites two prevailing YouTube trends. On one hand, this is MrBeast’s law of large numbers in action. The most successful YouTuber in the world likes to put a round number in his video titles, and Tade is showing why that strategy works. The Spanish creator is mining angry responses at the same time. If you respond indignantly to creations that are frankly unappetizing, then you are giving Tade the ragebait he wants.

That brings us to the channel right above Tade in the Global Sub Top 50: Shunkiwii. By adding one million weekly subscribers, the food ragebait master reached #2 in our ranking.

Shunkiwii’s signature video is slightly different from the typical Tade upload. Instead of trying to eat thousands of food items, he presents a single snack and hits it with a hammer thousands of times. Whether he’s bashing noodles or Oreos, Shunkiwii keeps his smashing hand strong as his view counter continues to go up. He even gives Bayashi a shoutout, paying homage to the king of culinary ragebait.

Clearly, there’s no portion too big for the YouTube audience, and that brings us back to Mitch Hedberg. If the Shorts audience is going to make “eating thousands of food items” into the next big thing, then chefs who create bite-sized foodstuffs will have an advantage. That’s good news for the panipuri guy we talked about the other week.

Even if the tide turns against this form of ragebait, there will still be opportunities for food creators to reach new fans. Tade, for example, knows that his wasteful excess pisses some people off. That’s why he has a food hack to address that very problem — and haul in millions more views in the process.
