In the Global Sub Top 50, you can make it three number-one finishes in a row for SASHA SHOW. Though most of the channels in the top ten have more total subscribers than him, Sasha was on a tear during the month of October. As the tenth month concluded, he added two million new subscribers to maintain his advantage.

Overall, it was another competitive week in the Global Sub Top 50, with the 50th-place channel adding 340,000 weekly subscribers. There were no Ukrainian channels in the chart, but the best-known citizen of that country had an undeniable impact on the ranking.

On his ‘Diary of a CEO’ podcast, Steven Bartlett embraces a political moment

There’s a new #1 podcast on YouTube’s charts. Move over, Joe Rogan, because Steven Bartlett is coming for the top spot. Bartlett’s Diary of a CEO podcast is surging forward, with some very special guests providing crucial assists.

On his show, Bartlett is best known for tackling topics like entrepreneurship, psychology, and emerging technology. But with U.S. Election Day just around the corner — and with political content surging on YouTube around the world — Bartlett has booked some high-profile guests.

First, he welcomed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Diary of a CEO. The resulting conversation, which spanned a variety of topics across a runtime of nearly two hours, showed how far creator pundits have come. Ten years ago, Bartlett was a little-known social media marketer; now, he’s talking with the world’s most powerful people.

Bartlett’s Zelenskyy interview got off to a hot start on YouTube, where Diary of a CEO has a dedicated channel. Bartlett’s team is also cutting clips from the episode to share on Shorts.

Boosted by the Zelenskyy episode, the Diary of a CEO YouTube channel added 400,000 weekly subscribers, reaching 35th place in the Global Sub Top 50. Then, to keep the momentum going, Bartlett dropped another guest who operates in the realm of politics. James Talarico sat down on Diary of a CEO days before Texas voters will head to the polls to potentially choose him as their next Senator.

Heading into Election Day, Diary of a CEO is ahead of traditional news outlets in the Global Sub Top 50. Bartlett has invested millions to turn his media operation into a sophisticated, multi-pronged business. His reward for that effort is face time with the people who want to talk to ordinary citizens.

That doesn’t mean, however, that traditional media operations are getting pushed out in the week leading up to Election Day. In fact, the media companies that are accelerating on YouTube are the ones who are taking lessons from creators like Bartlett. CNN teamed up with Jubilee Media to host a Talarico town hall in October, and viewers have responded by flocking to the Atlanta-based organization’s official channel. Its latest seven-day viewership tallies have been its highest over the past six months.

The creators operating like businesses and the businesses operating like creators are converging. They are united by a shared goal: Giving important people a platform they can use to reach as many people as possible.

By making Diary of a CEO YouTube’s top podcast, Bartlett has shown that he is too big for people like Zelenskyy and Talarico to ignore. In the case of Talarico, we’ll find out this week whether an extensive media blitz on YouTube can translate to votes at the ballot box.
